Motawi Tileworks

Nawal Motawi is the founder and principal designer of Motawi Tiles. The tiles are made with clay and glazes that are mixed on site using their own special recipes. An artist etches the design into a blank mold. When the clay is pressed into the mold, the etched lines become raised ridges. After a bisque firing, decorators use a bulb syringe to carefully pool glaze in all of the basins to color each tile. With a team of talented artisans, they create lovely colorful hand made historically designed art tiles. Their work is influenced by well known 20th century decorative artists.
